Job Title –  Armed Forces Officer

Location Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, M32 0TH

Salary range – Band 7, £34,834 - £37,336 pro rata (£13,933 - £14,934     per annum)

Working Pattern –  Part Time

Working hours – 14.5 hours per week

Contract type Permanent

About the Role

Trafford Council is proud to have maintained the Employee Recognition Scheme Gold Award for the last 5 years for its work in supporting the Armed Forces Community. An exciting part time opportunity has arisen in this area of work, under the initial mentorship of a very experienced Armed Forces Officer. You would be working with the Armed Forces community, have excellent communication skills, project management experience, and an understanding of the Armed Forces Covenant. You will be planning and leading on Armed Forces projects and events throughout the calendar year, including Remembrance Day, you will represent Trafford Council with internal and external organisations, including the Ministry of Defence, reservist units and the Armed Forces Community, working in partnership with other Armed Forces Lead officers across Greater Manchester.

About you

Your style and approach will reflect our values and behaviours, and you will be passionate about the role in supporting the Armed Forces Community. You will possess knowledge of military life and Armed Forces legislation which will underpin and inform your practice. You will have experience of project management and the ability to work with a wide range of people, groups and communities, including senior leaders. You should possess excellent communication skills both written and verbal. Be willing to work outside normal office hours, including occasional weekend work. Being organized and self-motivated are key qualities as is an enthusiasm for learning.
