Are you dedicated to inclusion and supporting young people with SEND to be fully prepared for adult life? We are looking for a dedicated and inspirational leader to come and join our experienced senior leadership team.

Redwood is a large special school for students with a wide range of complex SEND from 11-19. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to lead and manage our Engage Base, a provision within our school for students who present with complex autism. They will also undertake leadership responsibilities suited to their skill sets, in collaboration with other leaders.

ASSISTANT HEADTEACHER

· Act as a strategic and operational lead for identified whole school priorities as directed by the Headteacher within a generic special school setting.

· Work in consultation with the Headteacher and Governors to provide professional leadership, which secures the success and improvement of the school, ensuring high quality provision and care for all Redwood Students aged 11 - 19.

· In partnership with the Deputy Headteacher, lead and coordinate teams relating to agreed areas of whole school development.

· In conjunction with the SLT, lead by example when implementing and managing change initiatives.

· Support and contribute to the sustainability and growth of learners with additional needs in Rochdale.

Governors are seeking to recruit a person who will:

· Have extensive experience and skill in working with students with a wide range of special educational needs and be passionate in ensuring all our young people achieve their personal best and full potential within a secondary department

· Be able to demonstrate outstanding classroom practice, be able to lead outstanding teaching and learning, and demonstrate student progress across the school.

· Have excellent interpersonal, organisational, leadership and management skills

· Be able to demonstrate how their work has a significant impact on the whole school as part of a senior leadership team

· Have a strong commitment to innovative curriculum development for learners with SEND

· Have excellent leadership skills and be able to hold people to account

· Have the ability to relate to and communicate effectively with parents, colleagues and other key agencies such as further education, business and commerce
