Salary: £32,076 to £48,474 per annum (Grade 10 plus additional out of hours payments) 

Hours: 36.66 per week

Based: Chadderton Town Hall

Role Overview:

The service is entering a challenging period and we are looking to recruit a number of Building Control officers. We would welcome applications at all validated levels and provide a fantastic opportunity to further your career offering the necessary support and ongoing training to develop your skills in the profession.   

Key Responsibilities:

Grade 6 - Based on validated competence, without direct supervision examine domestic applications and plans and undertake inspections of building work to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and other associated legislation.

Grade 7 - Based on validated competence, without direct supervision examine applications and plans and undertake inspections of building work to ensure compliance with the Building Regulations and other associated legislation.

Grade 9 - Based on validated competence, without direct supervision process applications relative to major projects for compliance with the Building Regulations, including those involving the application of extended regulatory guidance related to fire-engineered solutions, Building Bulletins, Fire Code documents, etc. from receipt to determination without supervision.

Key Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need as a minimum:

  • To be authorised by the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) where necessary to act as a licensed building regulation inspector with validated and proven skills and competences to work at the appropriate grade.
  • Experience of working within a building control service dealing with a wide range of building control applications
  • Experience of interpreting plans and advising applicants on regulatory issues as they apply to your validated level of competence.
