This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team maintaining and improving the highway drainage infrastructure across the City. With some highway and drainage experience, you will join the performance driven Highway Services Team.

About the Role

As an enthusiastic and effective Engineer, you will be part of a team of engineers of varying levels of experience delivering a wide variety of highways or drainage projects to time and budget.  

The team is responsible for project delivery ranging from minor drainage / highway improvements to help protect people and property. You will be responsible for the detailed design of schemes and assist in the supervision of their construction. Working within the political and business environment of the Council you will develop strong positive relationships with clients, colleagues, and partners across all service areas. You will need to think creatively and work collaboratively, seeking opportunities to assist in improving service delivery in line with the Council’s objectives.  

The role is based at Swinton Hall Road Depot and your attendance at the office will reflect the needs of the team and the business. Some site attendance will also be required throughout the City.

About the Team

You will join the Highways Services Team working alongside other specialist teams delivering highways functions from conception through to completion. We have a friendly and welcoming ethos where we strongly believe in developing and growing successful team members to help us deliver the best solutions for our residents.

About you

You will already have some knowledge, skill, and experience in the design of highway drainage / highways infrastructure and be familiar with Design Standards. We are seeking someone who will not only fit seamlessly with the team but also display a commitment to continuous development and a dedication to working effectively for the City Council.
