A exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, highly motivated individual to join the Markets Service as the Manager of Longsight Market.

The Longsight Market Manager will be responsible for all day-to-day management of the market. They will support the Operations Manager in achieving the designated objectives for the market as highlighted in the Market’s business plan. They will also ensure that the services provided represent best value and are delivered in an efficient and effective manner and are in compliance with all relevant policies and current legislation, including Health and Safety regulations. 

The Manager will be responsible for the management of relationships with other stakeholders and the integration of the Market with the surrounding retail and business environment. They will also assist in the promotion of the market through social media channels.
 
The candidate will:
  • Have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely, accurately and in ways that promote understanding. 
  • Be able and confident to resolve moderately complicated queries in their area of knowledge using logical thinking to explain reasoning behind decisions or actions taken.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organise multiple tasks in the most effective way and allocate time and energy according to task complexity and priority.
  • Possess the ability to analyse situations, diagnose problems, identify the key issues, establish and evaluate and evaluate alternative courses of action and produce logical, practical and acceptable solutions.
  • Have skills to use ICT systems to obtain and analyse data and present it effectively through a variety of ICT channels. 
  • Have a good level of literacy and numeracy skills to undertake calculations and produce letters and other documentation.
  • Have the ability to monitor expenditure against budget, prepare forecasts, identify and understand variances.
  • Be able to organise own and others activities with an ability to carry out operational planning for a specific service area.
This is not a role for the faint hearted. This is a busy, fast paced role working on your feet mostly outdoors in often inclement weather conditions. You will be dealing with a large number of customers, stall holders and other service users.
 
The ideal candidate will have retail or management experience with good people management skills and excellent customer service skills.
