Transport and Workshops

Bradley Fold Depot

Salary £29,269 to £32,076 dependant on experience

At Bury Council we operate a fleet of around 250 vehicles and items of plant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a committed team in maintaining the transport provision for the authority in its newly refurbished workshop at Bradley Fold. Ideally you will be a qualified mechanic with 5 years proven workshop experience, a full comprehensive tool kit and the ability to adapt to alternative repairs such as hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems on specialised municipal equipment and machinery.

You will be part of a team based at the main workshops at Bradley Fold. This is primarily a day shift appointment working 37 hours per week, although a degree of flexibility is required to provide cover for colleagues, changes to work patterns or taking part in the emergency call out rota during the Winter months.

The workshop also carries out MOT and Private Hire/Hackney Carriage tests on behalf of the authority and a Class 4/7 MOT testers licence would be an advantage. An LGV Class ‘C ‘driving licence is also desirable for this post.

The successful candidate will benefit from an excellent pension scheme and 26 days holiday/year plus Bank holidays, an additional 5 days holiday will earned after 5 years service.
